Summary

The German Medical Association (Bundesärztekammer) has decided to introduce an electronic documentation system for specialist training in Germany. Physicians are to be enabled to digitally document their acquired competencies on an ongoing basis. Authorized trainers are to be able to evaluate and recognize these.
Challenge
The system had to be scalable to support 120,000 physicians and 40,000 authorized trainers in their continuing education. It had to cover 17 different continuing education regulations and more than 10,000 continuing education content areas. Transitions between the different chamber regions must be seamless.
Solution
By integrating eLogbuch with the portals of the state medical associations, users can access and complete their logbook directly from there. Permissions enable precise access control for authorized individuals and chamber staff.
Result
Since its launch in mid-2020, the number of participating chambers and users has been steadily increasing. By the end of 2023, all 17 chambers are participating, and over 110,000 physicians are documenting in their logbooks.
